Killer Selfies

Russian Xenia Ignatyeva, 17, was an amateur photographer and her great passion was taking selfies in fun and unusual places. She took a selfie after climbing a railway bridge with the aim of impressing her friends. Unfortunately, she ended up losing her balance tripping on an electric cable and fell to her death. Her dramatic railway bridge selfie was the last picture she ever took.

Courtney Sanford, 32, crashed seconds after photographing herself listening to the Pharrell Williams song "Happy". The song gave her the idea of sharing its uplifting mood with a "happy" selfie for her friends. In posing for the image however, Courtney lost control of her car, ramming it into a truck coming from opposite direction.

Mexican Oscar Aguilar, 21, attempted to take a macho picture showing him with a gun to his temple. He accidentally pulled the trigger and the bullet entered directly into his head, killing him. Earlier in the evening, he had been drinking with friends, and this was not the first time he'd taken a risky selfie following excessive alcohol intake.

A couple of Polish tourists on a family holiday in Portugal took a selfie at the edge of a cliff before slipping suddenly. Falling from a height of 80 metres, they crashed onto the rocks beneath in front of their two children who were aged just 5 and 6 years, leaving their children orphaned.

The Mexican pop star Jenni Rivera decided to take a selfie with her friends during a luxury flight on her private jet. But just five minutes after posting the photo, the plane crashed near Iturbide, Nuevo León. No one survived. All that was left was the image of the passengers' smiling faces on Rivera's social media pages.

The ones who survived...

Two Iranian girls filmed themselves singing in the car. Rather than focusing on their driving, they posed for their camera before uploading the video, and ended up crashing. Despite the horrific consequences, the video was published in full on the internet- the girls even posted selfies of themselves in the ambulance, happy to be alive.
