Kuwaiti Firm To Build Refinery, Petro Chemical Complex In Andhra

In yet another major investment, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed a MoU for a major refinery and petro chemical complex with Kuwait-based Al Qebla Al Watya (part of Al Kharafi Group).

The MoU envisages development of petro-chemical complex and a refinery on the East Coast for ensuring energy security and development of downstream and ancillary industries and employment. Al Qebla Al Watya has significant experience in Oil & Gas sector, including refineries and petro-chemical complexes.

The company has 'shown interest in establishing crude petroleum refinery and petro-chemical complex on the central coast of Andhra Pradesh and therefore it is mutually agreed by Government of Andhra Pradesh and Al Qebla Al Watya (part of Al Kharafi Group of Kuwait) to take all necessary steps for the establishment of a crude refinery and petro chemical complex in a fast track and expeditious manner.'

The Government of Andhra Pradesh shall 'extend all necessary support for facilitating this project. Al Qebla Al Watya (part of Al Kharafi Group of Kuwait) reaffirms its commitment to investing in this project and for exploring further avenues for investment in the state of Andhra Pradesh in other sectors.'
