Comparing her father with Mahatma Gandhi, Kavitha described her father as "Telangana Gandhi". Speaking at a party event, Kavitha recalled the efforts of KCR for making Telangana state a reality. Stating that KCR too is lean, slender like Father of Nation MK Gandhi, Kavitha said, "One lean leader (Gandhi) has brought freedom to the nation from the clitches of British and another lean leader (KCR) has brought freedom to Telangana from the leaders of Andhra." Kavitha added that KCR had worked strenuously for Telangana and waged war for over 14 years to make it possible. "Only because of KCR's relentless pressure, UPA had announced Telangana. He had worked such that either Telangana is made new state or he'd sacrifice his life." ("Telangana Techudo, KCR Chachudo").
