Full disclosure of any pending criminal cases now compulsory.
· Hiding a rap sheet will result in loss of seat nomination.
· A measure to embolden fair elections and weaken corruption.

The Supreme Court has ruled that any candidate running in the elections must disclose any pending criminal cases against them when filing the nomination paper. If this is not done and evidence contrary to a clean record is found, the elected candidate will lose their seat.

The court says that non-disclosure of criminal records by the candidates is a practice of corruption because this rids the electorate of the necessary information that they must have in order to make a fair and free vote. Universal right to adult suffrage meets justice.
According to the court, "The attempt [to conceal pending criminal cases] has to be perceived as creating an impediment in the mind of a voter, who is expected to vote to make a free, informed and advised choice".
An electorate that acts based with proper knowledge is one which leads to a good democracy after all.
