Yeah, extrapolating my chess experience to an average cricketer's experience.

 

I understand that there's a huge pool of competitive youngsters in cricket to play against and try to excel.

 

so it makes sense for youngsters to get into cricket.

 

But I'm concerned here about what makes people watch a sport/game. discuss about it, etc.

First and foremost reason.. Is the game catering to a common denominator?

 

Check. Even a simple man can understand what's going on in cricket. so the denominator is as low as they come.

 

Is there a variance in strategies on the field? etc.
