United Arab Emirates have lost all 10 of their previous ODIs against Test-playing nations. UAE's Khurram Khan's ODI average of 53.4 is the fourth highest of anyone playing at least 10 innings. In November 2014, Khurram became the oldest player to hit a one-day international century, at 43 years and 162 days, against Afghanistan at the Dubai ICC Academy. Zimbabwe skipper Elton Chigumbura has taken two wickets in his last 14 ODI innings, at an average of 139.5 and strike rate of 147. Khurram and UAE skipper Mohammed Tauqir are both 43 and the oldest players in the tournament.

Former Zimbabwe ODI skipper Brendan Taylor has been amongst the runs, but a big knock is due from him. UAE may well be the team that gets Taylor going in this tournament. The oldest player of this World Cup, Khurram Khan, was in superb form during the ODI series against Afghanistan in November-December 2014, amassing 270 runs in three matches including a hundred and two fifties. UAE will be hoping that the senior batsman replicates that form in the big event.

The UAE vice-captain will however look to prove that age is not a factor when one has talent. With an impressive average of 53.38 and a strike rate of 83.24, all eyes will be on him to counter Tinashe Panyangara who got the classy Hashim Amla in Zimbabwe’s match against South Africa. The tall pacer has an impressive economy and a good average, and he will be eyeing to spoil Khurram’s (late) party. Amjad Ali vs. ChamuChibhabha The UAE opener and wicket keeper Amjad Ali will have to stay at the crease for a longer duration than he usually has if UAE are to make anything out of this game. How he faces Chibhabha will also be important for his side. Chibhabha, the talented Zimbabwean all-rounder will be looking to better his decent ODI record. Manjula Guruge vs. Hamilton Masakadza The Sri Lankan born UAE bowler Guruge has just started his stint with the team, but has already shown considerable potential and bowled well in List A games as well as in the ICC Cricket World Cup Associate warm-up matches. But bowling to Masakadza, is going to be a real test. The Zimbabwean veteran has been in good touch and showed resolve and courage against South African bowlers. The Zimbabweans will be hoping for a good knock from him.
