Expectations Vs Realities Of Indian Students In U.s.a.

1. Expectation: Fantasize about playing in the snow, Having snowball fights, uploading pictures on Facebook.

Reality:  Ends up hating snow, slipping 10 times a day walking to university, cursing ice, swearing never to live in a snowy place after masters.

 

 

2. Expectation:  50Mbps internet speed??!! I’ll download every damn movie from the internet! Now nobody can stop me.

 

Reality: you get screwed by the law if you download movies. Shut up and watch youtube like a good kid.

 

3. Expectation: Dream of flirting & getting a white girlfriend.

 

Reality:  The white girls are all taken and the desi girls look fake in the american attire. Here you are stuck between two undesirable options.

 

 

4. Expectation: Weekend, movies, pubs, disco, bowling, girls………Yaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!

 

Reality:  Assignments, Part time jobs, cooking, cleaning, laundry. F**k my life!!

 

5. Expectation: Throw the old smartphone and get a premium Android or a iPhone for just $200

 

Reality: Yes, get a phone for $200 and pay another $80 each month for the next two years to own it.

 

6. Expectations: I will have so much fun with my new friends that i wont miss my family & loved ones much.

Reality:  ends up having less fun with friends and more emotional skype calls with family and friends from India.

 

7. Expectations: Finally i can have as much pizza & junk food as I can. No more boring Indian food.

 

Reality:  Remember homemade food, cries like a kid.

8. India: Doesn’t ever go to a temple thinking it is old peoples job.

 

U.S.A : Goes to temple so that you can have prasadam. That’s the closest you can get to authentic Indian food taste.

 

9. Expectation: Dream of having your own wardrobe collection of US Polo, Express, etc

 

Reality: Ends up buying Aeropostale in sale.

 

 

10. Expectation: Your family thing that you are a billionaire in making.

 

Reality: you work in Indian Stores, Motels, Gas Stations & Indian Restaurants for Survival.

 

11. Expectation:  Dreams of Jack Daniel and Johnie Walker every weekend.

 

Reality: Ends Up drinking Budweiser, Jameson and Absolut.

 

12. India: Never eats snack made at Home and eats only outside.

USA : Craves for Mom made snacks and eats them like the most precious things on earth, Share a few with room mates.

 

13. Expectation: expects to be super rich guy spending money like water.

 

Reality:  Ends up adding Milk and Bread on this

 

 

14. Expectation: Dreams of buying this as soon as they enter USA.

 

Reality:  Ends up buying an old car from 1990s for $2000- $3000.

 

15th - Think of having enough bank balance to use your debit card and do away with any Credit Card sort of stuff. Reality - End up owning multiple credit cards and juggling with payments, Earn and pay the card company and then use card to live
