rezzz Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Feb21st,Mumbai A Bollywood assistant director was arrested by the Versova police on Friday for allegedly raping and assaulting his wife, a former Miss India contestant. The 36-year-old woman approached the Versova police on Thursday night after her husband allegedly beat her up. According to the woman’s complaint, the couple got married in 2007, after she was crowned the fifth runners up in the same year’s Miss India pageant. The woman told the police that since the second day of their marriage, her husband began to torture her. When she retaliated, the accused threatened her by dropping names of politicians and Bollywood directors he knew. The couple has a year-old daughter, who was also allegedly tortured by the accused. The woman told the police that she had been working as a model for a few years. The FIR stated that the accused watched porn and sexually abused the complainant in front of their daughter. “The woman has also alleged that her husband is an alcoholic and used to beat her up after consuming alcohol everyday,” the police said. She further alleged that for the past one year, she had been approaching the police with complaints about domestic violence and had been directed to register a non-cognisable complaint. Two months ago, the woman claimed that she had threatened her husband that she would get him arrested for rape when the man called up the police control room and complained that he was being beaten up by his wife. “Following this, the police detained us and registered an NC again before releasing us,” said the woman in her complaint. The woman further said that she met Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, three days ago, who directed the Versova police to register an FIR against the accused and arrest him. “We have arrested the accused under Sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code,” said API Ravi Thengle from the Versova police station.
