Metro Rail to chug-off on Ugadi- Mar 21

 

Hyderabad, February 24:

The much touted Metro Rail is all set to chug-off on auspicious Ugadi day Mar 21. It will start public transportation at a stretch of 8 km surpassing 7 stations between Nagole and Mettuguda. With its first of its kind world class know-how to prevent any accidents the first phase of the metro rail will begin it work, officials stated. This train will function, for the first time in India, based on communication based train control system (CBTC) being offered by France based Thales company. The technology offers radio communication to provide continuous information on the movement of trains. Divided into six zones and each rail will know the location of other trains, their movement, speed and control zone controller system. Subsequently the trains on the movement will control their speeds and apply brakes as and when situation arises. Thus it is clear that the inbuilt technology of Metro Rail is capable of preventing any accident due to technical snag or human error besides stopping the train from surpassing the caution signal. The main control for automatic train operations is being located at Uppal Depot that will monitor the train movement in a stretch of 72 km. The officials have so far conducted test drives successfully and preparing to throw open the metro rail. Thus, the commuters and people can make a jolly trip on Ugadi festival. (NSS)
