Pitch

The Gabba surface was first intended to be used for Saturday's washed out match between Australia and Bangladesh.
Heavy rain had limited the amount of sunshine it saw, but the weather since has been warm and clear, suggesting the track will be dry, fast and evenly paced on what is forecast to be another balmy afternoon and evening.

Stats and trivia

This will be the first match for all players and both teams at the Gabba

It is also the first meeting between the two teams in an official ODI

William Porterfield is 18 runs short of Kevin O'Brien's current standing as Ireland's leading ODI run maker

The Irish beat UAE in the T20 World Cup last year in Bangladesh. However, in the 50-over World Cup, both are playing each other for the first time.

Quotes

"The way the four teams who have qualified have performed so far in this competition has been great. We've got to keep that going, not only ourselves, but everyone else."
Will Porterfield is looking out for the fortunes of more than just his own side

"Definitely I would say in the fielding. We missed three run-out chances. They were runs that have been given to three or four boundaries. Every run matters in these kind of games because it's a high scoring tournament so far and the grounds are very fast, so I think any run you can save, obviously."
Khurram Khan identifies where the UAE must improve

The squad are great. All the lads are firing. We have a full 15 to pick from again and it will be tough to pick the starting team. Four lads will miss out. We know that whatever eleven go out onto the park we know they will give it all and the lads on the sidelines will back them up. You need competition to keep everybody fresh and on their toes. That's the way it should be and will be for the next six weeks: Porterfield, when asked whether he was considering any changes

They'll be targeting us. We've played lots of games against them. I think it's a wonderful opportunity because it's a very important game for us as well. So we're definitely targeting this game: Khurram, when asked about his team's approach for the game

players to watch for:

Paul Stirling:

The hard hitting Irish opener was a treat to watch in the opening match hitting the West Indies attack to all parts of the ground. His partnership with Ed Joyce turned the game on its head for Ireland and the brisk pace at which this batsman scores means the UAE line up should come prepared for some brutal assault. Ed Joyce:
He is one of the seasoned campaigners of the side having applied his trade at Sussex for the past many years , Joyce again comes into the match on the back of a solid display against the West Indies where he was unlucky not to score a hundred. Joyce is the batting main stay of the side and is crucial if Ireland is to go the distance in WC 2015.

Niall o’ Brien:
This is Niall O’ Brien’s third world cup for his country and the hero of their shock opening victory has asked for calmness ahead of their battle against UAE. Looking at the bowling line-up of the UAE side, O’ Brien can be very lethal. Also Read: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Schedule: Complete Fixtures & Time Table of all Cricket World Cup 2015 Matches.

Khurram Khan:
The 43 year old veteran all- rounder is UAE star attraction at the tournament having represented UAE for the best part of 14 years in various tournaments. He also has the tough ask of marshalling his troops against a much fancied opposition.

Shaiman Anwar:
His attacking brilliance was one of the highlights of UAE display against Zimbabwe and a lot of hope rides on Anwar to propel a rather fragile batting line-up.
