psycopk Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 12 Crores for Vijayawada & Visakhapatnam Metro Rail?CBN initiated the Metro Rail projects in Vijayawada and Vizag to not only improve connectivity but to also position them as Tier-1 Cities in the future. Alloting Rs. 5.63 Crores each for both the Cities will not even suffice to construct 6 pillars as per prevailing costs. Compare this to the metro rail project in Hyderabad being built at with the total outlay of Rs 20,000 Crores.

Going by the paltry funds allocation, it may take decades for AP to complete such ambitious projects. If we don't get funds to build growth engines and ecosystems to compete with neighbouring states of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, we cannot achieve level playing field and cannot catch up with other states despite having enterprising and hardworking population."- CBN
