US taxed its industrialists heavily and started social programs, which has paid back in the long run. Argentina on the other hand, oscillated between unfettered capitalism and unfettered socialism and is now staring at bankruptcy. China will too, in the near future. Its wrong for India to adopt chinese model of growth. true...there is no other option but to go with that model while making some custom changes

Its a huge lol man. pls point out the central projects sanctioned to Chennai/TN in the past 15yrs. In fact Hyd got more central institutes in the past decade than any other city in south India. Southern India simply doesn't have the clout in the central govt. Chennai development was due to its people's ingenuity. and not some dole out from centre.lol that's the difference between Tamil and non Tamil guys, no matter who is ruling they always try to get with min support, UPA lo most benifeted is chennai before that it just largest city no where near to largest manufacturer of software

batman Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 airports are not totally built by govt. it private public partnership. govt should invest in infrastructure and industrialization. that will create jobs and demand for labour which will lead to better salary. with better salary should enable the poor to come to lower middleclass and so on. jobs and better pay will enable people to give themselves basic education and healthcare for family. No use of govt hospitals where docs don't come.no use of govt schools where teachers don't attend

Indonesia adukku thintondha? no comparison of india with any other country. what is their population and what is ours. first we need to earn money and then we can spend on these programs. but we are not oil/gas rich country so from where do we make money? from where do we get money to fund programs? only by borrowing from outside which will blow up the fiscal deficit and increase inflation. in the end poor will suffer due to this.

Both new ports in chennai.. one is state sponsored. and the other private. one more private near karaikkal. TN just have their priorities right, unlike AP. It may be hard to accept it. but its the truth. They may not be perfect, but they are slightly better than others in India. In fact it's Hyd and Blr, hurriedly increased the size of their catchment area to claim metro status. Compared to both, Chenni metro area is quite small. Technically Hyd is the largest, and makes more in revenue than Chennai. But maybe you can point out one good software product of Hyd. There are several world class ones from Chennai, and plenty on the way. Chennai does celebrate its british legacy. I agree. and its nothing to be ashamed about.

That's why I said, there needs to be a balance. A country that says $40B allocation to defence is a good thing, when 180,000 children die every year below the age of 5yrs due to unsanitary living conditions is not a country that one can be proud to back.
