As long as these things happen the criticism will also flow. And the India image abroad will be dented more. Emotional false pride will not help, man. The same false pride has cost us dearly in the past (especially during Nehru and Indira times - thats another topic) what didn't change, people gave a huge mandate in elections.. .they are winning leaders who are promising good things... islamic terrorism India lo entha taggindi did you see we are in a position to destroy boats even in the edge of waters ...?

Be happy atleast for doing it now in this case. Its kind of awakening time. Ilaane moosukuntu koorchunte..mana close vallaki jarigithe ardham avuthundhi aa pain. I no where said that we shouldn't condemn the other incidents. agreed, well said. kampu kodutune untadi unless we clean it, create awareness and this is where each one of us should support. ban doesn't make sense.

lolbob_fan Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 True Story: I remember my wife (then gf) complaining to me that she hates the way men look at her in public spaces. especially in Delhi/Punjab. She does wear what will be considered as revealing clothes in India. I reminded her that she's in a 3rd world country, and she shouldn't expect 1st world level maturity in public spaces. she pointed out that, maybe the PR people who relentlessly promote India as having arrived at the global stage should be informed of that. This was in 2005. I trust her, because personally I haven't given much thought to this, and she has traveled extensively all over south east asia, and says that the problem is nowhere as acute as in the Northern part of India. What I know for sure is, misogynism is rampant in India. Whether that leads to rapes is unclear.

India is a sick society"...in this case at least!! not sick, but patriarchal. Just look at how men brag about banging a chick, and waste no time in shaming her as a 'slut' when she brags.

Strict laws won't change it. I don't know what will change it.
