.net Regex For Email Field ...help

currently this is the regex validating the email id field

^[a-zA-Z0-9.!#$%&'*+\/=?^_`{|}~-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9]( ?:[a-zA-Z0-9-]{0,61}[a-zA-Z0-9])?( ?:\.[a-zA-Z0-9]( ?:[a-zA-Z0-9-]{0,61}[a-zA-Z0-9])?)*$

^[a-zA-Z0-9.!#$%&'*+\/=?^_`{|}~-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9](?:[a-zA-Z0-9-]{0,61}[a-zA-Z0-9])?(?:\.[a-zA-Z0-9](?:[a-zA-Z0-9-]{0,61}[a-zA-Z0-9])?)*$

this doesnt accept @ in the username...but accepts . in the user name....i shud make a change to this regex to not accept '.'(period) i the username of email id

or if anyone can explain how this regex works(like how its constructed) that will also be helpfull

try this regex 

filterEmail = /^([a-zA-Z0-9_.+-])+\@(([a-zA-Z0-9-])+[A-Za-z0-9\-]+\.)+([a-zA-Z0-9]{2,4})+$/;

regexper.com   lo  adhi paste chey, you will get some idea,,, i see  dot at two places  ,  you might need to remove it
