He was to announce the name during the official Ugadi festivities at Tul-lur in Guntur district, but changed his mind. Mr Naidu had informed his Cabinet colleagues while flying to Vija-yawada that he would announce Amaravati as the name of the capital during the celebrations. What about Amaravati? The famous town of Amaravati already exists in Guntur. What will it be renamed as? Labour minister K. Atchennaidu said the town would be merged with the capital region as there could be only one Amaravati.
