It is 100s of times worse than the good they do for the society. It kills the basic nature of human rational thinking. It manifests fear of week people. Week people who believe in them will stop using their natural brains and start believing in irrationality. Do you wonder why we have so many blind follower and fake swamys in India over thousands of years? Do you wonder why these kind of belief system is multi-billion business in India? You may have seen parents with these beliefs grooming their children into the same irrationality and the blind belief. Thats why we have so many people who believe in 100s of superstitions even this age. Religion, belief system or mythology is completely different from the spirituality. IQ is different from commonsense. Even an uneducated guy may think rationally (without any training in rationality) whereas a harvard/MIT/Stanford graduate may be a Kaleswar baba devotee.
