First Phase Of A P Capital City Master Plan Ready!

As promised, Singapore has delivered the first phase of the master plan for Andhra Pradesh’s new capital city. The first phase of the project comprises of regional socio-economic analysis and demographic study, as well as a set of strategies to develop better connectivity while protecting agricultural zones and heritage areas.

The plan will help CBN’s Government identify the appropriate long-term economic positioning of the existing towns and cities within the capital region around Vijayawada-Guntur.

Surbana International Consultants and Jurong Consultants - the two master planners of the project - are expected to complete the remaining two phases by end-June.

CBN spent a busy day in Singapore where he attended several meetings with dignitaries. In the first meeting of the day he met Singapore’s minister of Foreign Affairs K. Shanmugam and Ambassadorat-Large Gopinath Pillai followed by a high-level meeting with Singapore’s Second Minister for Trade and Industry S. Iswaran.

In the second meeting of the day, CBN met industrialists and made a presentation on investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. Post-lunch, CBN has an interactive session with investors from Ascendas and Sembcorp. Later in the day, Mr. Loh Ah Tuan, Strategic Advisor to Centre for Liveable cities (CLC) made a special presentation to CBN on their efforts to reduce and recycle waste in the country.
