Wtf.. Smriti Irani Finds Hidden Camera In A Trial Room At A Goa Store

Union minister Smriti Irani on Friday spotted a hidden camera in a changing room of a Fabindia store in Goa and promptly reported the matter to the police.

The Human Resource Development Minister, who is holidaying in Goa after being sidelined by the BJP's top leadership for its National Executive meet in Bangalore, had reportedly gone shopping at the popular clothing brand's store in Candolim.

Police said said she immediately called the local MLA, Michael Lobo, who filed an FIR with the police. The police has registered a case of outraging a woman's modesty. Irani has already recorded her statement with the cops.

What happened at the Goa store?

Police Inspector Nilesh Rane told IANS that Irani had visited the boutique in the north coastal village of Calangute, 20 km north of Panaji, and was trying out clothes when one of her assistants noticed the camera and raised a hue and cry. "The minister was in the store when one of her assistants informed her about the camera which was installed outside the changing room, but seemed to have a view of inside," Rane said.

While Irani could not be contacted, BJP's Calangute legislator Michael Lobo, who was on the spot, said the ruling BJP-led alliance government was taking the matter seriously. "I along with the police are scanning the store's hard disk right now. The camera is in a very mischievous place and there is footage of women changing clothes for the past three to four months," Lobo said.

The BJP government in Goa has sprung into action and an investigation is on. The employees at the Fabindia store are being questioned. Reports said the hard drive seized from the Fabindia store does contain images from women's trial room.

Goa's best kept secret, says Congress

The Congress, meanwhile, claimed that the 'changing room scandal' was Goa's best kept secret, especially in tourism-oriented coastal villages. "Not just this boutique. All stores with such a facility must be investigated. A union minister can at least alert the authorities but most people cannot," Congress spokesperson Durgadas Kamat said.

Last week, an employee of an upscale clothing brand was arrested in New Delhi for leaving his cell phone on record mode in the changing room.
