Congress Sees Rs 40,000 Crore Scam In Telangana State Water Grid

Hyderabad: AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs Digvijay Singh alleged that the Telangana’s Rs 40,000 crore Water Grid project was turning out to be one of the biggest scams in the state.

“The whole idea is to buy pipes and take commission. They decided that only those who have a factory producing pipes in state will get the contract. He is more concerned about buying pipes than providing drinking water. It is a strategy,” he alleged.

“Telangana government is loaded with loans due to the Water Grid project. Loans to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore from HDFC, Hudco and Rs 3,000 crore from Nabard and other schemes are taken for the project. However, the Water Grid scheme doesn’t have a Detailed Project Report (DPR),” he remarked.

He slammed TRS for its failure to implement electoral promises like 3 acre land for Dalits and STs, KG-to=PG free education in English, 2-bedroom house for poor, 12 per cent quota for minorities among other promises.

Mr Digvijay Singh, who discussed the party status in city and state with TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior party leaders, asked party leaders to sink differences and take up agitations against TRS government’s anti-peoples policies. He was reportedly unhappy over poor membership drive.
