Maniratnam has shown more Ayn Rand characters on screen.

 

1. kannathil Muthamittal (Telugu version what name?) Madhavan's character was directly lifted from the book Fountain Head. He even says a few dialogues that literal translations of what's written in the book.

 

2. Raavanan - First scene where Vikram jumps from top of a cliff into the water is the same as the opening scene Ayn Rand has written in the Fountain Head.

 

3. Yuva - Ajay Devgan's character.

 

I doubt maniratnam read Ayn Rand before 2000. His movies before that look a little less polished, and aren't character driven.

 

I wished Maniratnam never had read Ayn Rand. It seems to have fcuked his movies, like it fcuked my life for a short period.

RGV for some reason attracted some really brilliant people back in the 90s. which maniratnam has failed to do.

RGV's knowledge of the craft itself is dodgy. he makes it worse by carrying some really bigoted views, which he thinks are cool.

He was good when he was with Tollywood.. Moment he landed in mumbai and somehow rangeela got hit..he became mad and all bhajanlals in tollywood have given him that intellectual push..

was satya a great movie? I didn't know that there was satya 2.

 

satya was very good because of bhiku matre. rest all sucked big time. the writing was awesome too. gave us anurag kashyap.

 

like I said, RGV - inspite of being a rank a$$hole attracted some really brilliant people during those times. All of them are now very good directors in Hindi, while he himself is a joker now.

pakkonidiki minimum respect ivvanu. nenu undedhi 5 feet.. lol. naaku antha pogaru unte ela untadhi. :)

ayyaaka, job vellanu anna, already chesthunna hobby ni business ga chesa. akkada same attitude. so many deals lost because of that. ayina maarale. completely inflexible, freely insulting people, etc.

 

laast ki oka ammayi baaga gaali teesindi. koncham thagga. chaala mandi teesaaru, kaani ee ammayi andanga unindhi kaabatti thagga.

 

ayina inka aa qualities slight ga unnayi. Ayn Rand's are absolutely BS books to read if you are not in the habit of reading too many books. because reading just that gives you a really distrorted view of reality.
