AP CM inaugurates new units in Sri City

Cadbury's, Pepsi among those to set up units

Integrated industrial hub of Sri City, located about 60 km from Chennai, has attracted more than 100 companies with an investment potential of Rs 12,500 crore. Forty three of them were added in the past two years.

The industrial-cum-manufacturing hub with a special economic zone, located in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, has some of the major companies such as Cadbury’s and Pepsi lining up to setting up their manufacturing units.

This was disclosed during a visit to the Sri City, where Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy today inaugurated 13 operational manufacturing units.

These units entail an investment outlay of Rs 1,200 crore having employment potential for 3,200 people.

Let me clarify this

PepsiCo has many such bottling plants in India. The plant just opened in Sri City is just one of them. No big deal.

It has only one production line

The CEO of PepsiCo will not come to Open a single production line bottling plant, there are thousands of such plants for PepsiCo all over the world.

Indira Nooyi is in India to seal the association with AP which developed during Davos meeting with CBN.

Another 5 lines are being added to make it the biggest PepsiCo investment in a single location in India.

The main thrust is in the area of food processing , PepsiCo aims to procure mango produce from 32000 farmers in that area.

This will provide steady income , assured price for Mango farmers of that area.

CBN used the opportunity and converted a small plant of PepsiCo into a mega venture.

He also understands that CEOs of such big corporations can influence investments by giving their approval. He didn't restrict her visit to opening of bottling plant , he took her to Tirumala and personally took care of darshan and made her feel important.

The results were instantaneous , she addressed IIM Kolkata convocation where she said AP is "fantastic and supportive in giving all approvals."

When was the last Time a global CEO praised Andhra.

Even after such a long explanation a lot of you will never be convinced. Because you are already filled with prejudice.

Global food and beverages major PepsiCo today commissioned phase one of its Rs. 1,200-crore manufacturing plant at Sri City multi-product economic zone located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

When completed, this plant is aimed at servicing the southern market which will have nine manufacturing lines.

Inaugurating the PepsiCo's biggest manufacturing unit in the county, Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO, said, "For more than 25 years, PepsiCo has been investing in the Indian economy and its people. As we move forward into our next 25 years, that commitment is stronger than ever."

At the inauguration function precided over by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Nooyi said, "With the plant and the company sourcing strategy, local farmers would benefit as we would make it a hub for sourcing mango pulp."

About 32,000 mango farmers would benefit from sourcing.

PepsiCo plans to manufacture its entire range of beverages by adding sports drinks to the portfolio.
