Drunken driving by a  techie in Gachibowli killed another techie family in the IT corridor. A Deloitte HR manager and his speeding Skoda Octavia car loaded with liquor, girls and loud music killed a 36-year-old woman software engineer and seriously injured her husband in Gachibowli on Thursday night.

The victim, Soni Ramchandani, engineer with Infosys, travelling with her husband Harish and four-year-old son Moksha on a two-wheeler was mowed down  on Thursday night at ORR near Gachibowli  when a speeding Skoda Octavia car jumped the red light and knocked down the Ramchandani family and few others and tried to speed away.

Soni, Harish and their child were rushed to the nearby Himagiri Hospital where the Infosys engineer succumbed to her injuries in the wee hours of Friday. The husband is battling for life while their child escaped with minor injuries.

Police said that the Skoda owner Shethab Kumar, HR Manager with Deloitte along with four other girls was partying on the move when the accident occurred Shethab and his five interns were on a drive on the Outer Ring Road and were partying with beer and loud music.

Eyewitnesses said the Skoda car was overtaking vehicles at a high speed and was touching over 100 kmph when it hit the two-wheeler and due to the impact, Soni flew in the air.  Shethab, a resident of Dundigul, abandoned the vehicle at the accident spot and is absconding. The five interns have been detained for questioning, Gachibowli sub inspector Venkatesh said.

A hunt is on for Shethab. The Police registered a case under 304 A (rash and negligent driving) of the IPC but had no response as to why the case was hushed up for 24 hours.

After ten days on the run, Deloitte manager Shwetabh Kumar, whose rash driving killed an Infosys techie and her husband near the Gachibowli-ORR junction, surrendered before police on Monday afternoon.

Kumar, a manager of a software development team at Deloitte, had managed to evade the police dragnet by shuttling between Hyderabad and Mumbai, but continuous pressure by police on his family members finally forced him to surrender.

On March 26, Kumar, took four interns out for a drive to show off his driving skills and rammed his sedan at breakneck speed into a waiting motorbike near the Gachibowli-ORR junction.

While 36-year-old Soni Ramchandani, the pillion-riding Infosys employee died on the spot, her husband Hari Prasad, 44, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night.

The couple's four-year-old son, Moksh, also suffered injuries in the accident, but police said he is now out of danger and his relatives are taking care of him.

"We immediately took him to custody and have charged him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 of the IPC. He will be produced in court on Tuesday," Gachibowli inspector J Ramesh said. If found guilty, Kumar faces life imprisonment or 10 years in jail and fine.
