Gist: Don't subsidize private health insurance, build more govt hospitals.

 

One huge issue with the suggestion. Which govt should build the hospitals? Central or State?

 

Obviously one shouldn't allow central govt to poke their nose into state affairs more than necessary. So this leaves the state govt in charge of building those hospitals. Which the state of TamilNadu has done excellently. 

 

which clearly exposes the underlying problem of how state can build such capacity to serve the needs of its citizens, without having enough avenues to tax them.

The state of govt hospitals in TN is what makes me thank my dad for deciding to come to Chennai, raising me in TN.

 

instead of, say, bangalore. or god forbid, Hyderabad.
