An Alternative For Mr., Mrs. Ms. In Telugu?

I cringe everytime I hear a Tamil or Telugu person uses 'ji' as a honorific. eg. Modi'ji'.

I admit it doesn't happen that often. But is there a way to address a person in telugu like you do in English. eg. Mr. Smith.

'garu' doesn't cut it because its gender neutral.
