Fir Blames Aap Volunteers Of Provoking Gajenda Singh To Commit Suicide

NEW DELHI: The FIR registered into the death of Gajendra Singh from Rajasthan blames the Aam Aadmi Party volunteers for instigating the suicide and not letting police rescue Singh who had climbed atop a tree.

The FIR reads that around 12.50 pm, AAP leaders were making speeches. The crowd was boisterous and clapping.

Most of them were staring at a tree. Police claims that they tried to reach the spot. The victim had a broom. A message was sent through wireless set to control room and an appeal was made to crowd not to instigate him and bring him down safely.


Neither those on stage (AAP leaders) nor AAP workers or supporters helped us. After making a wireless call, an appeal was made to public to clear the area and let ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) be allowed inside.

None in the crowd helped them and instead "anti police" slogans were raised. Crowd chanted "police is anti AAP and doesn't allow the party to carry out protests".

On seeing that victim was about to commit suicide, an SOS call was made for fire brigade. Police say despite seeing that Gajender had tied a cloth around his neck and would commit suicide, none in the crowd intervened. Police claims it appears as if AAP workers and leaders were encouraging by clapping and instigating him.

Gajender then committed suicide but part of his body got stuck to a branch. Some men tried to bring him down, police then asked these men not to climb the tree and wait for fire tenders.

Instead of heeding to police request, these men climbed atop the tree and tried to bring him down. Gajender' body fell down.



Police claims that they put Gajender in a police vehicle. Instead of clearing the passage, aap workers blocked the way and said "He's a party worker and will be taken to hospital in their vehicle.

The police then used force to take the body away, they say. He was taken to RML hospital where he was declared brought dead.
