Super hit movies:

Pataas: Kalyan Ram got biggest hit of his career with this movie after ‘Athanokkade’. This comedy entertainer made with a budget of just 6 crore but Pataas collected more than 15 crore share at box office. Movie buyers got 100% returns on their investment.

Pataas is the biggest hit in 2015 so far on % of returns basis. Anil Ravipudi emerged as most promising mass director. He has potential to be among the top directors of Tollywood.

Temper: This Junior NTR – Puri Jagannath movie became super hit in spite of exams season and world cup fever. NTR’s superb action, good story line and wonderful songs helped the movie to collect more than 50 crore share at box office. Temper movie also helped Junior NTR to expand his base in overseas market.

Temper is the biggest hit in 2015 so far on the basis of amount of collections. After ‘baadshah’, this is NTR’s second movie to collect more than 50 crore share at box office. Temper movie was sold for around 42-43 crore but buyers got 20-25% return on their investments.

Let’s have a deeper look on some notable movies and their results.

Beeruva: Surprise hit of 2015. This low budget movie has made marginal profits for buyers. ‘Beeruva’ performed very well in Nizam area.

Gopala Goapala: In spite of having Pawan Kalyan and venkatesh, this multi-starrer had failed to break-even in several areas. This movie was sold for 44 crore but collected around 38 crore only. Sankranthi season and I mixed talk has partially saved this movie buyers from huge losses.

Dochay: This Nagachaitanya movie got mixed reviews but failed to make the buyers happy. Director failed to repeat the success of ‘Swami rara.”

S/O Satyamurhty: This Allu-Arjun Trivikram movie failed to meet the expectations of the audience. In spite of summer holiday seasons, SOS collected less than 40 crore. Buyers suffered more than 15 crore losses. Only saving grace is overseas collections due to Trivikram’s image.

S/O Satyamurthy is the biggest disaster in 2015 in terms of amount of losses for buyers. Unfortunately, fake websites are projecting wrong numbers for this movie. I don’t know how buyers feel when they see their numbers.

Rey: YVS Chowdary once again succeeded in giving another disaster….. This time for Sai Dharam Tej. This is the biggest disaster this year in terms of % of losses. Audience rejected it in such a way that it didn’t even get proper openings. This movie collected just 3.8 crore at box office.

Jil: After super hit movie like ‘Loukyam’, this Gopichand movie released with high expectations. Buyers bought this movie for more than 20 crore but Jil collected 14.5 crore only.

Nani’s ‘Jenda Pai Kapiraju’ failed to score at box office while Yevade Subrahmanyam escaped with marginal losses due to good response in A centers and overseas markets.

‘I’ movie: Shankar united with Vikram for ‘I’ movie and released with huge expectations.. Their previous movie ‘Aparichithudu’ is a sensational hit in those days. In spite of getting good openings, buyers of this movie suffered heavy losses.

Among 13 Dubbed movies released so far, Dhanush’s Raghuvaran B.Tech  and OK Bangaram are the only movies that resulted in profits for buyers. OK Bangaram got very good response in A centers and overseas. Vishal’s MagaMaharaju did not even create buzz in trade circles.

Tollytracking (TT) verdict: Tollywood story remains same this year also. Not even 10% of released movies are making profits at box office. Producers have no control over production costs while many heroes and directors have no interest in keeping their remunerations under check. In 2014, some hit movies also became cost-failures.
