I have a doubt actually , 10KWH solar battery pack 3500$ antunnadu , so to generate 1000KWH it costs $350,000 , and these Powerwalls can be used to create smart grids anta ....

 

india lo ippudu 1MW solar power plant setup cheyyali antey almost 6-7Crores avthadi , but ee tesla pricing tho chusthey its only costing about 2Crores .....

 

I'm not really sure if we can setup big power plants using this technology ( from Musks's presentation it sounds like we can do it ) .... its kinda interesting...

anni bad products don't die right away. especially ones that are promoted by superstars like Musk.

 

mellaga it'll fade away, unless there's radical improvement in solar cell tech.

 

I doubt solarcity customers are happy, after they've signed a 20yr lease. but I guess investors are.

 

Also solarcity is more of a financial company, than a tech company.

 

its not a bad product to start with , I've looked up similar 10KWh Li-Ion batteries from their competitors and the're priced at around $13-14k , Telsa is going to make waves in Utility Scale energy storage with this product .

Tesla's battery thingie will only lead a huge rush to capitalize on lithium futures, if most commodity traders aren't invested in it already.

 

The product itself is expected since a long time, for more than a year. Tesla has just brought chinese manufacturing into the US. Its not directly involved in any breakthroughs in the battery technology. Its product seems to more about smart grid management, given that Musk mentions about saving on peak rates.

 

I only think that the product is slightly ahead of its time. and not in a good way. given that battery tech still has some way to go to be deployed in commercial installations to actually save money.
