In research salaries in USA also not good... 

 

you'll laugh at me if I mention my salary. :) my wife laughs at me for bothering to go to work everyday.

 

I stay because I have other sources, from where I get 90% of my income.

 

plus I've seriously lacked motivation to do anything for a couple of years now. I'm hoping that someone kicks me hard for slacking, or insults my lack of intelligence enough, to make me choose something worthy to do.

 

Anyway, jobs are uniformly poorly paid, compared to the US, here.
