NEW DELHI: The government on Tuesday faced embarrassment after the Union home ministry in a reply told Parliament that the government had no idea where Dawood Ibrahim is.

This is in complete contradiction to what the government stand has been on the underworld don, who is the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

In December 2014, minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju had said that India's stand has been very clear for a long time that Dawood has been in Pakistan and he has been living in Karachi.

India had then asked Pakistan to hand over Dawood Ibrahim saying enough evidence have been given to it on the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

In November last year, Union home minister Rajnath Singh had said that Dawood is in Af-Pak region and blamed Pakistan for sheltering him.
