Facebook status update:

Thank you for understanding that sometimes things happen and not everything works out the way it is expected. Going through all the emails and comments has been quite overwhelming. We understand the frustration that some have expressed. We also understand that it is directed at the system which everyone agrees is broken. Needless to say, although we share your frustration, this delay and temporary setback is not going to stop us from continuing our work on our fixes. Additionally, we are having our next Advocacy Event in Washington D.C. in June to advocate the Administration to push for the fixes and lobby the Congress to move H.R.213 - more information on this will be available later during the week.

A few points of clarification:

Some members have suggested that this is "Only a Report" and made it sound trivial or unimportant. Please understand this is an extremely important step in the process of getting the meaningful admin fixes that we've been working on for years. For the first time, this official Report will list the Admin fixes that DHS plans to undertake for skilled immigration. We have advocated for these fixes for many years, and often people like to talk about these fixes in forum discussions - EAD for I-140, or filing AOS when Visa Bulletin dates are not current, etc. All that will be presented in this Report, which lists and acknowledges all the fixes for the first time in an official document. That is why this Report will be an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT MILESTONE.

Please note that some of the fixes will require regulatory process while other fixes will be partially/fully implemented sooner via issuing a Memorandum. The regulatory fixes will continue in-parallel to the fixes through Memos. But to see these fixes through, you will have to come OUT of the virtual world of anonymous online forums and stand together in the real world to advocate with DHS, USCIS, and Congress. That and only that is the way to see these fixes through.

And in-between, as we shared earlier, we expect changes to the system whereby most (not all) the qualified pending applicants with approved Immigrant petition (I-140) will be able to file AOS (I-485).

We understand that everyone needs to lookout for themselves. But there is also a need for people to look beyond their own personal application because these changes will not happen by themselves. After the initial announcement, expected to be made in few weeks, there will still be a lot of heavy lifting required and people will need to participate in the real advocacy for each of these fixes. Also, it is expected that there could be potential lawsuits and/or legal challenges for every fix. So be prepared for all that, as these unexpected turn of events could happen more frequently as we enter into an uncharted territory of Administrative fixes, as there will be many forces that will come into play.
