Is Gst Bill Worse Than Land Bill?

Yes agree on some points. Thought liquor is left out from GST, isn't it?

that's why I said, though liquor is left out of GST, and its great for TN, but still TN stands to lose from GST, because of input credit will not depend on where the input item was manufactured.

I didn't read any tamil dailies yet, but pretty sure, the sentiment is strongly against GST.

No Way..Its by Far da best Tax Reform ever in India.. Having One Unified Tax System across all over India Boosts Investors Confidence, though it strips off States Authority on Taxes.. Nitya+Menon.gif

entha simple cheppavu ba. adhe leka pothe inkenduku india lo undatam.

you support centralization?

I don't understand this at all. everybody keeps saying it, but its impractical.

how can anyone predict how much the state has lost?

I mean, why should India be a single market place at all? Isn't USA doing well leaving states to take care of the sales taxes.

I wish it was like USA but some reasons behind it. Firstly USA has Income tax returns stream lined where more than 90% file returns every year without fail. Secondly government doesn't want to ease their control over the states and let them become more powerful than the central government itself classical example is Pakistan where some provinces has a major say over the union government and it is not working out very well for them.

frankly man, if I take away the excessive religiosity, pakistan seems to be a much better place than india. I say this, as a short time investor in pakistan.

India is a mess. a different kind of mess, but one that's holding it back and will drag it back behind pakistan and bangladesh if this kind of centralization keeps on happening.

I wish TamilNadu stands its ground, and doesn't allow GST to pass.

where exactly was GST successful?

Good for India , atleast we can see an important mix of cultures like USA, and uniformly distributed economic status

There's nothing political about GST. Its a tax issue.

economic status is not uniformly distributed across USA. and there's no reason why it should be.

Canada is a good example of why GST should be avoided.

Canada's direct taxation is probably the best in the world, in the way its designed, especially for people who live off their investments. but they have the worst consumption taxes.

USA is rich enough not to have GST, well USA is strong enough to align the rest of the world for satisfying its needs.

India on the other side needs something that can balance income distribution in all states irrespective of production.

If not as a whole country but states follow GST principle I.e simplified tax system unlike current system in India.

The main feature of the GST is simplified tax structure and that there is a tax credit available at each stage of the value chain. There is a value added at each stage right from manufacture to each additional stage of sale but the tax to be paid is only on the value added instead of the whole amount. So for example if there is a tax paid on Rs 2 lakhs at 15 per cent at the first stage then the tax here will be Rs 30,000. At the next stage whenthe same goods are sold at Rs 2.5 lakh then the tax would be Rs 37,500 but there is a set off of Rs 30,000 available so the actual tax at that stage will come to just Rs 7,500.
