compose Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 firstly, manager avvali ante two routes in IT companies - Technical PM or Project PM.. konni companies lo ee rendu separate untayi and konni companies lo normally same person does both.. Technical PM ki kavalsina skillsets normally leading a team + decent level technical skills in specific area that the team is working in.. neeku Java experience undi kabatti you can be a natural fit in teams working in Java ecosystem development Project PM ki normally skillsets will be more around facilitating all activites throughout SDLC along with managing the PM triangle - Scope, Time and Cost.. normally ee roles lo though you might be managing a technical team, most of the time you might no be hands-on.. ee roles lo unna naaku telisina vallu konta mandi they crave for hands-on after a few years since these roles are stressful Scrum Master ki ayithe completely different mindset undali in my opinion.. chaala mandi think Scrum Master in agile is equivalent to PMs in a waterfall kani in my opinion I dont think that is true.. Scrum Master is purely responsible for making sure the delivery of the project happens without issues and remove any impediments that might come up.. they wont be responsible for managing resourcing, costing, etc... naa suggestion ayithe try for Technical PMs since: 1. they vaatiki ekkuva billing untundi normally in a contractor role.. full-time role lo I think both will have almost same salaries.. 2. i dont think it is ever a good idea to completely be out of touch with technology as long as you are working in the IT industries.. 3. ee country lo project PMs are easily replacable compared to Technical ppl.. 4. it will be a natural fit for you based on your background how to approach it ki.. contracting trying kabatti try to show progressive development in resume from being a developer to a team lead to a technical manager.. hope this helps

ILAQAT_MUFLIYA Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Usual ga comps lo tech managers are very limited maya.. Dev motham oka manager ala untaru.. I would suggest looking for product managers which will be technical and consist of small teams.. Non technical ante ne certifications petti latest proj lo lead and supervised project delivery ani petti apply cheytam start chey.. One or two opportunities ni batti u can get the feel of what firms are looking for.. And also consulting firms place managers too on client side to manage their consultants ala em aina unnaya kuda chudu..

Java dev with scrum master roles vatiki kuda paniki vastundi ani. Scrum master is no way equivalent to PM. CSM would just help PM to undertake Agile projects. PM ki ACP or CSM would help anthe. CSM training lo most of them who attended were PM's. PM Tech or Pure management usually have over lapping responsibilities but PM who is purely techinical will have to make technology implementation decisions etc...I want to totally go into management side...Also billing antha great em undadu...malla ade 85 $ saturation...Billing kosam kakunda interest based i am planning to move...I worked as tech lead in my prev projects which didn't excite me much.. One two projects chesi FT chusukundam ani manager ga na long term plan... Anyways thanks for your inputs..
