firstly, manager avvali ante two routes in IT companies - Technical PM or Project PM.. konni companies lo ee rendu separate untayi and konni companies lo normally same person does both..

 

Technical PM ki kavalsina skillsets normally leading a team + decent level technical skills in specific area that the team is working in.. neeku Java experience undi kabatti you can be a natural fit in teams working in Java ecosystem development

 

Project PM ki normally skillsets will be more around facilitating all activites throughout SDLC along with managing the PM triangle - Scope, Time and Cost.. normally ee roles lo though you might be managing a technical team, most of the time you might no be hands-on.. ee roles lo unna naaku telisina vallu konta mandi they crave for hands-on after a few years since these roles are stressful

 

Scrum Master ki ayithe completely different mindset undali in my opinion.. chaala mandi think Scrum Master in agile is equivalent to PMs in a waterfall kani in my opinion I dont think that is true.. Scrum Master is purely responsible for making sure the delivery of the project happens without issues and remove any impediments that might come up.. they wont be responsible for managing resourcing, costing, etc...

 

naa suggestion ayithe try for Technical PMs since:

 

1. they vaatiki ekkuva billing untundi normally in a contractor role.. full-time role lo I think both will have almost same salaries..

2. i dont think it is ever a good idea to completely be out of touch with technology as long as you are working in the IT industries..

3. ee country lo project PMs are easily replacable compared to Technical ppl..

4. it will be a natural fit for you based on your background

 

how to approach it ki.. contracting trying kabatti try to show progressive development in resume from being a developer to a team lead to a technical manager..

Yeah...ma team lo present project lo andaru PM's are contractors...nenu contracting jobs ke chustunna dude...

I agree..usually PM okade untadu who manager tech side with tech lead/architect...very few companies lo Program, project , product managers enta mandi untaru...

Ma team lo 7 managers unnaru 2 locations lo ...anta mandi em pikutunnaro i always dont understand :)
