This Is The Baltimore Mum Who Beat Her Son For Trying To Protest

The mother who went viral yesterday for beating her son and dragging him away from the Baltimore protests has spoken out.

The mother-of-six, Toya Graham, said she didn’t want her son to be “another Freddie Gray” – the man who died from spinal injuries he sustained in police custody, which was the incident that sparked the riots in the city.

Speaking to CBS News, Toya spoke about the moment she saw her son in the midst of the protests:

At that point, I just lost it. I was shocked, I was angry, because you never want to see your child out there doing that.

He gave me eye contact. And at that point, you know, not even thinking about cameras or anything like that. That’s my only son and at the end of the day I don’t want him to be another Freddie Gray.
