AP to provide aid to Christian pilgrims visiting Jerusalem

 

The Andhra Pradesh government would provide financial assistance to members of the Christian community who plan to visit Jerusalem and other religious sites, on the lines of help provided to Haj pilgrims. 

"Rs 50 lakh have been allocated for the purpose. Government has agreed to send five batches of fifty pilgrims each," state information minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said here after a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. 

The proposed new excise policy was discussed at the meeting but no final decision was taken. 

The cabinet also discussed a proposal that government itself should run the liquor shops. 

It approved fodder security policy - 2015 which envisages creating a fodder bank for drought-prone districts like Chittoor and Anantapur. Rs 250 crores would be allocated for this purpose. 

The cabinet also discussed water security policy and Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Marketing policy. The marketing policy would introduce online marketing of farm produce. As per the proposed policy, traders from far-off places can participate in purchase, leading to higher prices for the farmers.
