Drive for about 3 hrs from shillong and you reach Mawlingnong- asia's cleanest village. Just before Mawlingnong lies the village Riwai.Once you reach the Riwai village,head towards the forest area, you'll find steps leading into a jungle. Walk down the steps with caution; after nearly a hundred slippery steps you should be able to make out the faint noise of a stream. Make your way through rocks down towards the stream. A spectacular view awaits when you find yourselves facing a live root bridge made with sturdy roots of intertwined tree roots, spanning the river. The place lies in the shadow of a rain forest and has an erringly silent air as you look around the stream. A calm, serene, sparkling clean stream. Sit there, forget the world.
