Is Sourav Ganguly is the reason behind Rahul Dravid's turning down Panel Job?

 

The Indian Express is currently running a very interesting story highlighting that Rahul Dravid might have rejected the panel job because of Sourav Ganguly. It has been mentioned that after Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly were included in the BCCI advisory committee, Rahul Dravid has stated to have rejected the offer of being a part of the BCCI advisory committee due to his other commitments.

As per the story of the Indian Express “It seems Dravid isn't comfortable working with Sourav. That's why his name isn't on the list.”, a BCCI official said to Hindustan times. Also in terms of the news item, another official backed up the former by saying, “A cricketer like him wouldn’t want to be involved in a battle of egos”.

In the earlier reports, it was mentioned that Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar were the ones short listed to join BCCI advisory panel.

However, after Rahul Dravid rejected the offer, VVS Laxman was appointed in his place. Dravid also claimed to turn down the offer due to his job with Rajasthan Royals.

Apart from the offer to join in the BCCI advisory panel, Dravid was also stated to have offered to act as India's coach and to guide the young team, for his brilliant job that he did as the Rajasthan Royals mentor.

It is a well-known fact Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly had not shared an easy relationship in the past. In the past during Sachin's book release, Sourav Ganguly made a comment on Dravid's relationship with Greg Chappell due to which plans were made to replace him (Ganguly) with Dravid. D

ravid had however expressed his opinion by saying, "I haven't really read the excerpts of that book. Also I am not privy to any private conversation between two individuals. I have not heard about this before and I have no idea what happened and I would not want to make any comment."

Millions of the fans of the game will be delighted to see both the legends, i.e. Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid contributing in the growth of Indian cricket but so far it doesn't seem to be happening.
