Whats wrong with votebanks? ofcourse representations inkaastha diverse ga undachu. and it is under a process of evolution constantly. if regional parties can't give fair representations to diverse local caste groups, how can national parties give it? there's no place for 'merit' in this discussion. why should a politician represent a particular caste in the first place .... isnt it the root of many issues in our society ... the're in a way following the age old british policy of divide and rule ...

lazybugger Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 why should a politician represent a particular caste in the first place .... isnt it the root of many issues in our society ... the're in a way following the age old british policy of divide and rule ... its a question of perception. whether he represents or not, he'll be perceived as representing them. If you don't believe, try and support AP when you are with your TG colleagues (the most politically aware of them). pretty sure you'll be called an Andhra guy or a settler. politics should reflect society. It cannot change it. nor should it attempt to. There are other ways to slowly bring change into societal attitudes towards caste.

In fact, I get lots of advantages because of being half komati. discrimination face chese vaadu, how can he give up his caste? and why should he? shouldn't that be the rallying point for him to fight those upper castes? As long as majority of upper caste people hang on to their castes, caste politics is inevitable.
