Mandatory. konni client certifications unna kuda eppudu rasav ani adugutunar. you get client call if your certification is atleast 2 years old (priority untundi). Certifications lekunte not even worth to market your resume in salesforce. Market ok undi. Billing around 50-65 avg ga undi. Salesforce admin easy ee kani development ki you need to have java background and its not easy.

Developer role ki coding baaga ravali. Billing baane untadi, manaku konchem telivi unte.. Nenu 6 months ayyindi salesforce developer ga start chesi..Idi naa opinion..experts/seasoned developers might not agree..

If you have idea about Core Java programming, J2EE topics like servlets, JSP and that stuff..you don't need formal training. Visualforce in salesforce is similar to JSP. Controller in salesforce is similar to Servlets. and salesforce has its own SQL called SOQL which you can learn in a day or two.
