TDP legislator Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who is being sought for questioning by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the cash-for-vote scandal, was in the guesthouse of a private hospital in Rajahmundry on Saturday.

“Don’t drag me into a controversy and put me in trouble. I want to be underground for some more time,” said Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, a TDP MLA from Khammam, when The Hindu reporter contacted him in the hospital.

The ACB has been trying to serve a notice on Mr. Veeraiah for the better part of a week but he informed the ACB court that as he was down with high fever and a foot injury, he would not able to submit himself for questioning for another 10 days.

The MLA spent Friday in Visakhapatham and came to Rajahmundry in the night via Kakinada and got himself admitted in room number 306 at Bollineni Hospital in Rajahmundry. However, when The Hindu tried to locate him in the room, he was not there. Finally, he was traced to a guesthouse on the top floor of the hospital, where entry is barred to outsiders.

Mr. Veeraiah was surprised to be found and said he would make himself available after the ACB completed its questioning of another TDP leader in the case Vem Narender Reddy. Mr. Veeraiah said his hypertension condition has worsened since the developments in the last two weeks. He did not reply to any questions relating to the cash-for-vote issue.

Bollineni Hospital is owned by Bollineni Krishnaiah, a former TDP MLA who shifted to the Congress before the last Assembly election, and Bollineni Seenaiah, a leading contractor.
