It always makes for a beautiful tale to watch minnows prove their dominance against the conventionally mighty forces. Bangladesh have shown it with some stupendous performances this year. Among the visuals in modern-day cricket, watching Bangladesh fans has given us great joy. Though they can’t outnumber Indian and Pakistan fans, they surely bring great energy every time they come to watch a cricket match. They loud, colourful and passionate.

 

The fact that Bangladesh has been enjoying a great run of form over the last one year has given them more reasons to cheer and celebrate. On Sunday, Bangladesh beat India, comprehensively outperforming them with bat and ball. It was a great to watch, despite being an Indian.

It was Bangladesh’s fifth consecutive win in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 10^th in a row at home. They beat England to reach the quarterfinals of the world cup, thrashed Pakistan and whitewashed them in the three-match ODI series and won their first ever series against India. But it doesn’t seem as if the fans have learnt how to celebrate.

India’s iconic fan, Sudhir Kumar Choudhary aka Sudhir Gautam who is often seen donning the Indian tri-colour with paint on his body and the name of Sachin Tendulkar was pelted with stones on Sunday. As per reports, there was nothing that had prompted them to do so except watching their side win.

It is unlikely that Sudhir Kumar would’ve done something. He is a man who seen India winning and getting defeated hundreds of times and has behaved with utmost dignity in all the matches. All those who has seen him live would know that he is the ‘real cricket fans’

There must have been built up angst from the passionate fans who have seen their cricket side lose more often than not. Here the moment came to celebrate; they didn’t know how to vent it out and chose to attack India’s most popular fan representative.

There can be no room for hating the opposition in your celebration. Physically attacking a fan of the opposition team was an uninviting gesture. Bangladesh fans have proved to be an absolute disgrace to the world of cricket lovers. Such acts bring down all the joy of watching their cricket team do well.

If they don’t learn their lessons now, touring teams and fans will think twice before coming to their country.
