bengal famine was man made. this was natural.

 

madras state was probably the best ruled among all british ones. Charles Trevelyan should be named as the "Father of Madras".

these were taken by the legendary photographer W.W.Hooper , google him , photography very much existed in 1870's its just that many people dint have as much access to it as we do today ...

 

Hooper was one of the the very few guys who documented what happened during the British raj ...
