Please check the offer letter that was issued by my HR for the $5,000 damages.  As you know, there is a lot of effort & man-hours that goes into filing and obtaining the approval for the H1B.    Now we are in the process of cancelling the H, which again involves a lot of time & expense.  Hope this clarifies.
