Greece Latest Developments In 11 Simple Points

1) Greece requested yet another bailout on Tuesday. It's a desperate attempt, but European finance leaders said they'd meet to consider it. Still, it doesn't look good: One official told CNN that any new rescue may require tougher conditions than those Greece has already rejected. Greece has been living on borrowed money for a while now, but time has nearly run out.

2) Greece will miss its $1.7 billion payment to the International Monetary Fund Tuesday at 6pm ET. It's the first developed country to do so.

3) Global financial markets are calm. That follows a pretty sharp drop on Monday and suggests investors are in wait-and-see mode to see how this all shakes out.

4) The thinking is that most of Greece's debt is owed to big European institutions and other eurozone countries, not private banks, so an ultimate default shouldn't crash through the global financial system.

5) German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday the "door is still open for dialogue."

6) Whether there's a dialogue will depend a lot on the July 5 popular vote in Greece.

7) If the people vote "No," it seems to mean that they do not want to consider a bailout. Chaos ensues as proceedings likely begin for how to leave the euro, and return to the drachma.

8) If the people vote "Yes," it generally means that they want to stay in the Eurozone. New terms will need to be negotiated. Broadly, Europe wants Greece to cut the amount it has promised in pensions and raise additional taxes.

9) Greece has another big payment due on July 20, this one to the European Central Bank.

10) Greek banks are still closed. That's to prevent people from withdrawing all their cash, which the banks couldn't possibly honor. Daily withdrawals are limited to 60 euros, or about $67.

11) Oh, Greece is pretty much in a Depression, with the economy having dropped by a quarter in the past few years, and an unemployment rate above 25%.

Allow me my German friends to advice you not to believe what German media or the German politicians are "selling" to you, as i don't believe what the Greek media or the Greek politicians are trying to "sell" to me. We are not lazy nation, we work more than many Europeans, and our sallaries and pensions are 600-800 euros/month, by working 6 days a week, for 10-11 hours. You know i have a bachelor, i  work 6 days a week, 10 hours every day, i am taking 700 euros/month and for 3 years i don't have money to buy oil, for 3 winters i am frozing inside my home because i try to pay all my taxes and bills, and to help my parents and my brother who doesn't work. Also i try to give some money to my friends who doesn't work too. We in Greece don't blame Germany for the Greek bankruptcy, we know that we voted the wrong politicians for decates. We blame Germany for the economical programm that was given to Greece as medicine, because it doesn't work. We feel that Germany decided to punish the Greek citizens and not to help them. From 2011 to 2015 you are giving huge loans to Greece (not a single euro to the Greek economy in order to start produce again and start paying up her depts) and this loans are going back to Europe in order to pay back the previus loans who expire making the Greek dept from 130% in 2011 to 180% in 2015. Merkel and Sarkozy decided in 2011 to give huge loans to Greece in order not to default, because the German and French banks had many Greek bonds. So if Greece was default that period then many German and Frecnh Banks would collapse. So lets see, who will invest to a country with a 350billion debt in order to creat new jobs? hmmm nobody How the Greek state can collect taxes when the half population is unemployed? hmmm no taxes How the Greek state will collect taxes from the businesses when they all close? hmmm no taxes With this situation that the German economical programm created how my country can stand on her feet and start to feed her population and pay back the dept?? You think we like all this situations? we are a proud nation and you talk for us like we are thiefs and we are making partys with your money... We had the balls to fight against all the Empires who attacked us, and in many fights we won or we defended very hard, we don;t deserve all this lies that German media and populist politicians saying about us. And finally for history... Greece had the heart and helped Germany to stand on her feet by signing in 1953 the treaty of London for the huge cut of Germany's debt. Because the logic was saying that non country can't stand up with such a dept. We could punish Germany for the huge crimes of WW2 but we decided to help. Also we never demanded the gold that Nazi stole from the Greek National Bank which drove 300.000 Greeks to die from hunger during Nazi occupation. For the seek of German-greek friendship the Greek goverments never demanded those money back and didn't help the Greek survivors of Nazi war crimes to go to justice to demand allowances. And the Greek public opinion forgot this crimes too fast making Germany one of the most popular countries and love one in Greece until the 2011. If you asked a Greek before about Germany he would answer that he admire Germany. But now we all feel that you insult us, and that you want to punish us for the crimes of the Greek politicians and Greek Banks. PS=Sorry for the large text but i don't feel that the Greek nation deserve to be treated like this, we did mistakes and we want help to built our country without insulting us and make us feel as thiefs. But your medicine did the situation worst, we became a debt colony when the solution was too easy if you decided to make the Greek debt "lighter" by expand the Greek bonds to 30-40 years.
