We did in May, 5 day trip. 2 days after they opened the gates. so beautiful..nice weather.. bearable cold...roads are just cleaned with both sides ice mountains. Entered through grand teton.. a must visit place in may.. it is Alps in US. if you don't want to wait for next may.. do it in fall. Stay is depends on which side you enter the park. Otherwise all the geyser's are listed above. if you can drive from Yellowstone to Mount rushmore.. the scenic is best rated.. amazing.. its like in Swiss.. but thats in Fall (for colors).. after gates open in May before June (before snow melts)

Did you drive there? or fly 

 

I am at an awkward distance from Yellowstone, i couldn't decide between  driving there in 10 hrs or flying, which would you suggest

 

also if flew, would you suggest renting a 4x4  or just any rental car world work?
