Meeting 1- With JGC Corporation executives

• CM invites JGC Corporation to set up petrochemical corridor
• JGC evinces interest in exploring aqua and food processing sectors

On the third day of his visit, Chief Minster Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu met executives of JGC Corporation.

The JGC Corporation operates in petroleum, power, water, new energy and industrial parks sectors In India, the company runs its operations from an industrial park in Chennai.

Inviting the company to explore setting up of a petrochemical corridor in Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister briefed them about the presence of huge gas and energy reserves in KG basin of the state. He also mentioned about the advantage of a long coastline, abundant water resources and land bank.

In response to CM’s conversation, the JGC Corporation head said the company is keen on setting up a refinery and cracker unit in Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister added that they are keen to create a world-class infrastructure with port-led development apart from construction of best-in-class airports.

JGC Corporation chairman and representative Director, Mr. Masayuki Soto, said the company wants to partner with Andhra Pradesh in food processing sector. Stating that Andhra Pradesh is a leading exporter of marine products, the Chief Minister invited Mr. Soto to explore the opportunities in sea food processing.

Mr. Nobutaka Tanaka, General Manager and Mr. Shuhei Maruyama, Advisor were present at the meeting.

Meeting 2 – With Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC)

• Japan Research Institute to do a feasibility study on eco-city
• CM invites JRI to collaborate with AP to study transportation systems

In a meeting with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), Senior Advisor Mr. Fumio Hoshi informed the Chief Minister that Japan Research Institute (JRI) is ready to conduct feasibility study on eco-city and transportation systems in Andhra Pradesh.

Japan Research Institute is a subsidiary of SMBC.

Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu invited the JRI to visit Andhra Pradesh and collaborate with an organization or university to study the cost difference between elevated metro and monorail and submit a report.

He also suggested the JRI to offer consultancy services to Andhra Pradesh and later, expand it to other states on the proposed model.

Meeting 3 – With Toshiba representatives

• Toshiba to assist AP to optimize power management
• CM invites Toshiba to partner in energy research and proposed Energy University

Mr. Toshio Masaki, Deputy President of Toshiba, has come forward to provide assistance to Andhra Pradesh to optimize power management.

During the meeting with Mr. Masaki, the Chief Minister briefed how the state successfully reduced T&C losses to 10.3%. “Next year, we want to bring it down to 9% and eventually to 6%, at par with International standards,” he said.

The Chief Minister also invited Mr. Masaki to collaborate with Andhra Pradesh in the proposed energy university and partner in energy research.

Later, executives from Toshiba gave a presentation to the Chief Minister on smart power management and smart metres.

The Chief Minister suggested Toshiba to begin a pilot project in Vizag, on lines of Fuji Electric in Vijayawada.

Meeting 4 - With Honda executives

• CM invites Honda Motorcycle Division to set up plant in AP

Later, the Chief Minister held a meeting with Mr. Shinji Aoyama, COO of Motorcycle operations, Honda Motor Co. In this regard, he invited the Japanese automobile giant to set up a plant in Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister explained about the opportunities for automobile manufacturing in the state and how auto companies could use the state as a manufacturing hub and export it to the Asia-Pacific region.

“We have unveiled and automobile and auto components policy that allows ancillary units to function from the state and support the mother unit,” he said, adding that the Chennai-Bangalore and Vizag-Chennai Industrial corridors will boost the investment potential in the state.

Mr. Aoyama lauded the Chief Minister for his vision to develop Andhra Pradesh as one of the best investment destinations. “We are attracted to explore opportunities in your state,” he added.

Meeting 5 - Prefecture of Toyama delegation

A Prefecture of Toyama delegation has met the Chief Minister. Mr. Ryuko Hira of the delegation informed the Chief Minister that Toyama is proposing a collaboration with Andhra Pradesh in twinning.

Toyama is a prefecture of Japan located in the Hokuriku region on the main Honshu Island. Toyama is also the leading industrial prefecture on the Japan Sea coast, and has the industrial advantage of cheap electricity from abundant hydroelectric resources.

Following the discussion, the Toyama delegates gave a presentation on the Perfecture in this regard.
