A strong rumour has been in circulation in Kadapa district for the last two days that Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would launch a new political party, if the Congress high command does not give him due recognition and allows chief minister K Rosaiah to tamper the populist schemes introduced by his late father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

According to the talk, the comments made by two MLAs of the district G Srikanth Reddy and C Adinarayana Reddy that they would even pull up party president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the YSR schemes issue were not just off the cuff, but deliberate attempts to test the political waters. “If the situation precipitates by taking action against the MLAs, Jagan is planning to split a large number of MLAs of the Congress party and force a mid-term elections in the state, so that he would go to the people as a true heir of YSR and stake claim for power,” sources said.

There has been an animated discussion among political circles over the possible development in the coming days. The Congress MLAs supporting Jaganmohan Reddy are learnt to have suggested that he should take out a massive campaign against the Rosaiah government and take the Congress high command head on.
