(DT_STR,4,1252)(((DT_I4)FiscalYear) - 1) + " - " + RIGHT(FiscalYear,2)

this is working fine man, provided that FiscalYear is a varchar field... I tried it on my system.

See output

FiscalYear FiscalYearNew
2015          2014 - 15
2014          2013 - 14
2013          2012 - 13

Man, what does the Metadata tell you about fiscal_year field from source before you connect to derived column?

Posted

simple solution is, just remove the data source in the package and add it again man... it should work... may be it saved the metadata and throwing an exception... try this and tell....
