aadwi Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 The Centre is keen on providing special grants/incentives to the States which are performing well in the implementation of energy efficiency and conservation measures. According to Bureau of Energy Efficiency director general Ajay Mathur, the Central government was keen on imparting technologies available across the globe and assist the State Designated Agencies for putting in place the best practices. These include phasing out energy inefficient electrical appliances, promotion of competition among the industrial units through effective implementation of perform, achieve and trade policy and adoption of energy conservation building code. The Central government had decided to involve all the State governments in energy efficiency and energy conservation programmes as they would help in achieving at least 15 per cent energy savings, Mr. Mathur said in a message. Mr. Mathur who was expected to address the participants of the Power Plant Summit 2015 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry was unable to participate in the event owing to prior engagements. He appreciated the energy conservation programme launched by the State government through replacement of conventional lighting by LED bulbs claiming that the success of the programme, particularly in Visakhapatnam where 92,000 streetlights were replaced, attracted the attention of other States. Several States including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan were keen on learning about the AP experience. State Energy Conservation Mission Chief Executive Officer A. The power utilities could adopt super critical technologies for ensuring overall improvement in their efficiency. He highlighted how the Energy Efficiency Services Limited in collaboration with the State power utilities had completed distribution of 5.5 million LED lights under the DELP programme.
