India's first-ever Miss World Reita Faria in 1966

Miss India, 23 year old Reita Faria, who is studying to become a Gynaecologist, is elected the most beautiful girl in the World.

 

Reita, who hailed from Mumbai, was a doctor by profession and she was 23 when she participated in the beauty pageant. She was also the first Indian girl to have worn a swimsuit for any beauty contest. Reita turned down modelling and acting offers after the completion of her one year tenure as Miss World because she wanted to concentrate on her studies.
